Chevening Scholarships in Thailand is run by the British Embassy Bangkok funded by the Foreign and Commonwealth Officeand administered by the British Council. They are prestigious awards which enable overseas students to study in the United Kingdom.

Chevening Scholarships  are offered in over 150 countries and enable talented graduates and young professionals to become familiar with the UK and gain skills which will benefit their countries. 365 students from Thailand and Laos have studied as Chevening scholars in the UK over the 25-year lifetime of the programme.

Chevening scholarships 2010-2011: Application process now open.

The British Embassy Chevening Scholarships Programme invites applications for fully funded one-year's Masters-level studies in the UK for the 2010-11 UK academic year, which starts in September 2010.   We are looking for outstanding applicants with a proven track record in thier chosen proffession and an interest in further study.  

We want to hear from you if you are:  

  • a university graduate with proven academic skills;    
  • proficient in English, with excellent written and spoken skills (IELTS 6.5 or above);  
  • committed to returning to Thailand after graduation to renew a career contributing to Thailand's further development;  
  • interested in being part of an influential global alumni network;

If you are successful in your application, we will provide: A full living allowance to cover accommodation and all expenses; a return airfare; other allowances as necessary to complete your Masters degree in the UK.

The deadline for applications is 20 January 2010. All applications must be made online.  We encourage applications from women and candidates from across Thailand.

Chevening Alumni Thailand

The Chevening Alumni Thailand (CAT) Committee was formed in March 2008 in order to improve communication and networking amongst Chevening alumni in Thailand and Laos, and between the alumni, the British Embassy and British Council. The Committee members, all former Chevening scholars, have been working hard to contact other alumni. If you are a former Chevening scholar who is no longer in touch with the Embassy or the CAT Committee we would be delighted to hear from you. Please contact cheveningthailand@gmail.com

Chevening scholars 2009

The British Ambassador Mr.Quinton Quayle hosted a tea party at the British Ambassador’s residence on 10 August 2009 to congratulate the Thai students on receiving the Chevening Scholarship and to wish them luck for their studies the UK.
