Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA)
Locally engaged Grade 2 vacancy: SOCA Liaison Assistant

A full-time position is available for a SOCA Liaison Assistant in the Serious Organised Crime Agency Office at the British Embassy, Bangkok.
The main purpose of the job is to assist SOCA Liaison Officer (SLO) in maintaining an effective liaison between SOCA and Thai Law Enforcement and other competent authorities.
Key Tasks include:
- Maintain regular contact and liaison with UK and Thai Law Enforcement agencies on Extradition other Criminal matters.
- Handle extradition work and issue a monthly update on all active cases
- Manage all intelligence, messages and correspondence, maintaining indices on the computerised SLO database and ensuring the constant updating of the system.
- Prepare letters, reports as well as law enforcement related intelligence for the relevant authorities and the Serious Organised Crime Agency in London.
- Respond to general enquiries regarding laws and extradition treaties relating to international co-operation in criminal matters.
- Arrange transportation, accommodation and meeting with Thai authorities for UK police extradition squad team when visiting Thailand.
- Attend meetings and case conferences with high level officials in Thai Law Enforcement.
- General office duties including manage office supplies, filing, booking flights and accommodation for visiting Law Enforcement Officers and the resident Liaison Officers.
- Provide accurate translation of discussion, meeting and docments.
- Issue and disseminate monthly SOCA Account.
Knowledge/Skills:
The successful candidate will have:
- Strong organisational and analytical skills
- Excellent liaison and communication skills with good command of written and spoken English and Thai.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, a flexible attitude to working and an ability to use initiative, multi task and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
- A working knowledge of IT (including Microsoft Word and Excel and preferably Microsoft Access) and the ability to conduct IT based research.
- Knowledge of Thai Criminal Law, legal procedures and Government Protocols would be an advantage.
- Experience in multi-agency high-level liaison and familiarity with law enforcement work is preferable.
Hours:
The position is full time, 36 hours per week. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 0800-1630 and Friday 0800-1300, but some flexibility is required to respond to changing workflow and demands.
Security Clearance:
The successful applicant will hold, or be able to obtain, the appropriate Embassy and SOCA security clearance.
Salary:
The job is linked to the British Embassy’s Locally engaged Grade LE 2 pay scale starting at Baht 46,662 (for non Thai taxpayers, abated by 10%)

Political Section: Locally Engaged Grade 4 – Assistant Political Officer
(3 months temporary position)

A 3-months temporary position is available for an Assistant Political Officer at the British Embassy, Bangkok.
The main purpose of the job is to assist the Embassy's Political and Communications Section in achieving its overall Business Plan, under the Foreign and Commonwealth Office's Departmental Strategic Objectives.
Tasks include:
- Monitor local blogs, chatrooms, news websites to highlight issues that are relevant to Embassy’s objectives.
- Digital media editor: produce DVDs, and online videos in house
- Provide support for all communication work including design and produce promotional material (banners, posters, leaflets) to promote the embassy's work.
- Official Embassy photographer
- undertaking translations of documents and discussion as required
- Other Political work, as directed by Line Manager and the Head of Political Section
Required Knowledge and skills:
The successful candidate will have:
- Have a working knowledge of IT and the ability to conduct IT based research.
- Familiar with using IT software to design and produce high quality promotional material.
- Knowledge of social networking and information sharing tools (youtube, facebook, blogs, twitter).
- Photography skills (taking pictures, videos and editing them)
- Have a good command of written and spoken Thai.
- Have a good command of spoken English.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a small team and be adaptable to new working methods and tasks.
- Have a flexible attitude to working; open to out of hours working as necessary.
- Be willing to undertake travel out of Bangkok on an ad hoc basis.
- Good typing skills
Hours:
The position is full time, 36 hours per week net. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 0800-1630 and Friday 0800-1300, but some flexibility is required to respond to changing workflow and demands.
Salary:
The job is linked to the British Embassy’s Locally Engaged Grade LE 4 pay scale starting at Baht 21,107 per month to be paid pro-rata (non Thai taxpayers, abated by 10%).
