Management Section: Locally Engaged Grade 4 – Telephonist/Receptionist (5-month temporary position)

A 5-month temporary position is available for a Telephonist/Receptionist at the British Embassy, Bangkok.
The main purpose of the job is to provide a good service to customers/visitors, working as a team with our other Receptionist in Management Section.
Tasks include:
- Operate the Embassy switchboard, assisting callers, and re-directing calls as appropriate, including answering some enquiries. Working as a Receptionist as the first point of contact for visitors or callers to the Embassy.
- To work as a Receptionist at the Gatehouse. Giving information and answering some enquiries when customers need, directing customers to the right place.
- To maintain access control to the main Embassy by correct identification of staff and visitors, ensuring that only authorised persons are admitted through the airlock doors.
- To issue visitor passes and ensuring that visitors are met and escorted and comply with security guidelines for the Embassy.
- To receive mail and deal with people from outside agencies and companies. To distribute cheques to suppliers.
- Make some hotel bookings as requested by other Sections.
- To provide administrative work in support of Management Section ie updating telephone directories.
Required Knowledge and skills:
The successful candidate will have:
- Have a good written and spoken command of Thai and English.
- Have a working knowledge of IT.
- Have excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a small team and be adaptable to working environment.
- Have a positive attitude to working flexible hours.
Hours:
The position is full time, 36 hours per week net. Office hours are Monday-Thursday 0800-1630 and Friday 0800-1300, but some flexibility is required.
Salary:
The job is linked to the British Embassy’s Locally Engaged Grade LE 4 pay scale starting at Baht 21,107 per month.
