October
On 30 October, I gave a speech about the economic crisis and its impact all over the world for international programme of master degree at Assumption University.
On 16 Oct 2008, I had tea with over 30 students from Bangkok, Srinakharinwirot and Chulalongkorn universities. They were invited to exchange views and opinions on different issues, such as, the current political crisis, climate change and British and Thai culture. I was very impressed with their intelligence and confidence.
On 29 Sep-1Oct 2008, I visited the Northeast of Thailand. I went to Charoen Pokphand’s (CP) Pakthongchai Feed Mill (largest feedmill in South East) and took a tour of its Slaughterhouse and Processing Plant.
On 30 Sept 2008, I went to Lamplaimat Pattana School in Buriram. It was great to talk to the children and to try to answer their questions about Britain and the work of the British embassy. I was very impressed by the happy atmosphere at the school and the self-confident and articulate pupils.
On 1 Oct 2008, I gave a speech on Climate Change: A Race Against Time at Khonkaen University. The speech aimed to promote understanding and raise awareness of climate change. After the speech, the students gave me their opinions on ways of combating climate change and preserving the environment.
On the same day, I presented donations of consumer products on behalf of Tesco Lotus to give to people affected by the floods around Khon Kaen.
After that, I planted a tree with the students as part of the Tesco’s “Plant Nine Million Trees” programme to help protect the environment.
