British Honorary Consulate in Chiangmai provides consular assistance and services to British nationals.  However, some services such as passport issuing and birth registrations, require documents to be sent to the embassy in Bangkok.  Customers should therefore allow more time than normal if applying for these services through the honorary consulate in Chiangmai.

British nationals in other parts of Thailand should contact the Consular Section of the Embassy in Bangkok for assistance.  

Our role

The principal role of the honorary consulate is to offer consular assistance to British nationals in the Chiangmai. This is done in close co-operation with the British Embassy in Bangkok.  Details of consular assistance available to British nationals in Thailand can be viewed at what the consul can and cannot do for you.  Please note that applications for passports and certain other consular functions have to be forwarded to the embassy in Bangkok, and adequate time should be allowed for this. The relevant application forms are however available at the honorary consulate in Chiangmai.

The honorary consulate can also assist with commercial enquiries, principally by putting enquirers in touch with the appropriate official in the Commercial Section of the British Embassy in Bangkok.  The honorary consulate does not deal with applications or enquiries concerning visas to travel to the UK.  Information on applying for a visa can be viewed at the visa page.
