How we can help

The Consular Section

The Consular Section offers help which is appropriate to the individual circumstances of each case, including: issuing replacement passports; providing information about transferring funds; providing appropriate help for those who have suffered rape or serious assault, are the victim of a crime, or are in hospital; helping people with mental illness; providing details of local lawyers, interpreters, doctors or funeral directors; and contacting detainees within 24 hours of notification of detention whenever possible. They also offer support and help in a range of other cases, such as child abductions, death of a relative overseas, missing people and kidnapping; contacting friends and family. In addition, they provide notarial services and letters that might be required by the Thai authorities, such as when applying for a driving licence or retirement visa.  British nationals residing in Thailand for more than three months, are strongly advised to register with the embassy.

The Visa Section

The Visa Section is part of the UK Border Agency and handles visa applications from people seeking to enter the UK to visit, study, live or work. Detailed information and application forms can be found on the website of our outsource partner, the UK Visa Application Centre managed by VFS (Thailand).

The Commercial Section

The UK Trade & Investment team in our Commercial Section offers support to the UK companies doing business in Thailand and Thai companies seeking to invest in the UK. We also aim to attract high quality foreign direct investment from Thailand to the UK. They offer a wide range of assistance, mainly through the Overseas Market Introduction Service (OMIS), including information about those who seek UK equipment, materials, professional services, and joint venture partners.

The Communication Team

The Communication Team is responsible for promotion of UK government policy in Thailand and for providing assistance to the media. We will also try to  answer general enquiries about the UK.
