Swine Flu: Thailand

There have been a significant number of confirmed human cases of the A (H1N1) - Swine Influenza virus in Thailand, including a number of deaths, and increased surveillance and control measures are in place. All travelers arriving at airports on international flights will be thermally scanned and will be required to complete a questionnaire about their recent medical history. Passengers with a temperature of over 38°C or who exhibit influenza symptoms will be referred for further diagnosis, and any passenger with suspected H1N1 will be quarantined.

The Embassy is keeping the situation under close review and is in regular contact with the Thai authorities.

At this stage we would encourage you to:

  • monitor the media and relevant websites, including the FCO Swine 'Flu pages and our Travel Advice;
  • consider your healthcare arrangements, including access to anti-viral medicine (the Embassy does not hold medical stocks for British nationals resident, or on holiday, in Thailand);
  • if you are working in Thailand, speak to your employer about the plans they have in place;
  • follow good personal hygiene practice;

register with the Embassy through our online database, so that we can contact you if necessary.
